Tiny Tiktúra

My image of food mould growing on a tomato from the series “Garden of wordly extrolites” is made in to a video for the teaser of Cellist, Björt Rùnars’ new solo album “Tiktúra”

I’m very excited to present the teaser for Cellist, Björt Rùnars’ @bjortrunars new solo album “Tiktúra”, released Dec 2022. I felt deeply honoured, earlier this year when Björt suggested we collaborate on creating images - from my mould photos - to accompany her music. Within a week of our exciting first discussions I got stuck in the worst flood in history up in NSW, then came back to Melbourne only to find myself homeless with CovId. I’m so very glad that I had this project to work on, it helped me get my act together and got the ball rolling on a dream project I’ve been wanting to work on for years (all of that said in a gleeful tone of hindsight).

A special thank you to video goddess Eva Mezei @evcha_devcha for dropping everything and helping me put the teaser together. We dropped in 100 single images that I shot through the microscope and turned the timelapse into a video. I made the still cover image by blending all those images together into one. If that sounds complicated…. well… it was! If you’re interested to know how it’s done I will give the details in future posts.

Björt is Icelandic and based in Spain. We met as crew members in a French company performing at international arts festivals. She is not only talented but also the sweetest person I know.  Her live Cello music takes you into another realm, at times playful and on occasion haunting, this new album is perfectly suited to the intriguing organic formations of my photos.

Tiktúra is an Icelandic word that means quirky or peculiar behaviour.
